Inspired by Laila, I baked some of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever tasted the other day! What have you been doing to keep busy?
Today, we'll have an optional community building zoom meeting at 9:30. Can you find a match? We'll soon find out! All of the Zoom meeting information has been posted in the "Lydon Homeroom" in Google Classroom. As always, if you need any help with any of your assignments, don't hesitate to reach out! Office Hours: 8-12 Who's your favorite superhero? I'm still undecided. I started watching all of the Marvel movies in chronological order with my niece and nephew (Anna and Jake). We made it about halfway through the list before they moved to Morocco. So, now I have to wait until they come home ( a year from now) to finish watching the rest.
Today I will be hosting an optional math practice Zoom session. If you'd like help fixing past assignments, are struggling with today's assignment, or simple want some extra practice, look in the "Lydon Homeroom" stream to find the meeting info! Can you believe we are entering into week seven of remote learning?!? I miss you soooo much! In case you missed it, click the link below to watch the NBCS teacher parade video. I watched it a few times, and may or may not have cried! It sure was nice to see all the faces of our NBCS family!
NBCS Teacher Parade I posted a "Week 7 Updates" video in the "Lydon Homeroom" stream in Google Classroom. The video gives you a snapshot of the week, and explains any changes to the routine. We have a lot of fun activities planned for you this week. I, for one, can't wait to see what you come up with for your Edible Phases of the Moon S.T.E.M challenge in science! Please send pictures! As always, if you have any questions, don't hesitate to reach out. I'd love to help any way that I can! Office Hours: 8-12 Today, you get to create your own constellation and tell the myth as to why or how it ended up in the sky. For inspiration, I've posted two common constellation stories below. I'd love to see pictures of your final constellations, so please send them my way! Draco the Dragon: Draco was said to be a dragon that had a hundred heads! He was in charge of protecting a golden apple tree for the Queen of the Gods, but he fell asleep on the job and was then banished into the sky. Orion: Orion is one of the most popular constellations because it can be seen almost anywhere. Orion is also known as 'The Hunter.' There are many myths about Orion. One of them said that he was bragging about how many animals he could kill, and was banished to the sky. Another says that he fell in love with a goddess and was killed by the goddess's brother. A final myth says that he was killed by a scorpion's sting (Scorpio, the Scorpion, is also a constellation). Office Hours:
8-12 I LOVED seeing the creativity of your Truffula Trees! I hope you enjoyed making them and celebrating our beautiful planet! It reminded me a little bit of our Weslandia projects earlier this year-and made me chuckle thinking of the travel videos you made and your unique costumes and creations! Today we will be having an optional book club Zoom meeting at 9:30. The meeting information has been posted in you "Lydon Homeroom" stream in Google Classroom. We will likely be offering more than one book, so that we can please more people. The three books with the most votes were (drum roll please):
Genius Files Terrible Two Kid Normal Join the conversation and tell us your thoughts! We'll split into groups, show you how to access the books, and determine our first stopping point. Remember: if you are having difficulty with any of your assignments one way you can reach out is by sending me a personal comment in Google Classroom. These comments are private and are only visible by the teacher. So, please don't hesitate to reach out if you need help. Have fun today! Office Hours 8-12 Brrrr...
